HALLOWEEN

                          TERRIBLE TREATS / ROTTEN SWEETS

This is a easy and fun dessert for halloween. I make it every year.

                        CANDY CORN PUDDINGS

1 box (4 serving size) instant pudding mix vanilla and one butterscotch. Make each one with directions on package. In clear glass of choice, ( can even serve in a martini glass) Add layer of vanilla pudding, layer of cool whip, layer of butterscotch pudding and top with cool whip. For Halloween, garnish with candy corn. The nice fall colors can take you thru Thanksgiving also. Can garnish with the candy corn pumpkin or a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg. Very good. Light and creamy very festive. You can use fat free milk when making the pudding and fat free whip topping also if you want to cut some calories but not flavor. Enjoy!

Have fun/Be safe/Stay Human!

HALLOWEEN

TWISTED TREATS / ROTTEN SWEETS

CANDY CORN

1898:Candy Corn is produced by the Herman Goelitz Confectionery Company of Fairfield, California, now known as the Jelly Belly Candy Company. (from women’s day magazine 2011) October 30 is National Candy Corn Day. More than 35 million pounds-that’s 9 billion pieces-are made each year. Like politics, the tricolor treat has American’s sharply divided, love’em or hate’em? I know that I can always eat a handful or two in October. One kernel has a mere 3.57 calories. Candy Corn is fat-free. A cup of candy corn has about as many calories as a cup of raisins. ( from family circle magazine 2011.)

Some thing else for your candy dish this October, the Hershey Kisses Pumpkin Spice are wonderful. And wrapped very festive. Enjoy!

HALLOWEEN FREAKY FACTS

Orange and Black colors are used because orange represents the colorful fall harvest. Black represents the darkness of winter.

The Irish placed candles in turnips to keep away spirits. Over time pumpkins got used instead.

And some Halloween tidbits from Family Circle Magazine Oct. 2011. Chew on this: October 30 is National Candy Corn Day. More than 35 million pounds, that’s 9 billion pieces, are made each year. Halloween Humor

“Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, ‘Never take candy from strangers.’ And then they dressed me up and said, ‘Go beg for it.’ I didn’t know what to do. I’d knock on people’s doors and go, Trick or Treat, No thank you.”

—Rita Rudner
